Welcome to the St Albert Trekkers' Website!

Sunset on Walk in Sturgeon County

If you like walking, you'll love Volkssport!

The  Trekkers Volkssport Club was established in 1988 so residents of St. Albert, Edmonton, and surrounding areas could enjoy the benefits of Volkssport. Over 20 years later we are still going strong!

This Web site has information for both newcomers and our members.

Though the most popular Volkssport activity is walking, we also have swimming, cycling, and skiing events. These events are non-competitive, and our motto says it all - FUN, FITNESS, and FRIENDSHIP.

Please check out our web site but more importantly come out and join us for a walk - we welcome all new walkers.

The Trekkers hold organized walks in the greater Edmonton area approximately twice a week all year round. Occasionally the club looks further afar and holds walks in the mountains or elsewhere in Alberta.

The American Volkssport Association and Canadian Volkssport Federation are the largest organizations of walking clubs in America. Their 600 clubs host non-competitive walks which are open to the public.

So whether you want to walk locally, around the Province, across the Country or around the World there will be a walk for you!

The CVF Convention is hosted by the Trekkers in Banff on May 30, 31 and June 1, 2014. To visit the 2014 Convention Web Site click here:

In December 2003, Canada Post issued a definitive stamp showing the flag flying over the Edmonton Skyline. In its description of this stamp, the author writes "The montage design,..., evokes the iconography of Canadian landscape through the picturesque green spaces of Edmonton, which enjoys more parkland per capita than any other city in Canada."
We are pleased to host many walks all through the Capital Region Parkland! Come out and enjoy it with us!
