Morinville and Cardiff - June 12, 2010 PICTURES
For over 25 years the Trekkers have had the pleasure of starting a walk from the Rousseau farm in Morinville. And even more exciting the walk ends at the farm where we are served up with the famous double twoonie lunch. This walk is generally one of our best attended of the year. Following the lunch we made our way to Cardiff for a second great walk in Cardiff Park.

Banff Alberta Majesty Walks - September 3-6, 2010 PICTURES
Each year one Alberta club hosts Mountain walks. 2010 was the Trekkers turn. 46 avid walkers turned out to enjoy 5 great walks and 55 km of great mountain trails. The weather co-operated and we all got some great views from the mountain peaks. |

New Year's Day Walk and Brunch - January 1, 2009
The first walk of 2009 was from the St
Albert Inn in St Albert. Like the clubs previous two walks the weather did not
co-operate. It was -24 before wind chill. Ten brave folks walked while 14 others
chose to stamp their books and make the walk up when weather conditions allowed.
Then the brunch and visiting. What a great way to start 2009.

Strathcona Wilderness Centre - September 27, 2010
The final Sunday in September is celebrated with the County of Strathcona Wilderness Centre Days. The walks this year were iffy as a huge wind the week before blew down a lot of the trees. Staff at the Centre determined the trails were safe so a determined group of Trekkers enjoyed a great walk on the trails. Truly a must walk to add your calendar each year. |

Downtown Edmonton Pedway Walk - December 20,
2008
The first walk in the down town pedways found the morning
temperature to be -30 before wind chill! What a cold spell the region is
experieinceing. 18 keen walkers braved the cold and met inside Commerce place at
8:00am and at 8:30 after a group picture in front of the Christmas tree headed
out into the maze of pedways, shops and tunnels! At the mid-way mark the books
were stamped and off everyone went for the second 5km. Since there was a Tim
Horton's right next to the start point, guess what most of the walkers did
next! Yes a cup of coffee was well deserved. What a great new walk - thanks to
Sara.
Contact Sara if you would like to walk this
route at a mutually convenient time this winter.

Christmas Lights Walk - December 13,
2008
The weather was not co-operating for this very special annual
walk. The temperature with wind chill was colder then -30. 19 people showed up
and the decision was made that it was too cold to walk but not too cold to be
driven around St Albert in the bus and feast on the fast array of Christmas
food! Everyone had a great time and the books were stamped - walkers were to
make the walk up at another location whe weather conditions permit. Next year
this great annual tradition will be held in Edmonton checking out their best
Christmas lights.

Oktoberfest - 4th October - 2008
It was a beautiful sunny autumn morning, 6:30 a.m.
and the mist was beginning to rise from the river. A total of 53 walkers showed
up to do 5, 11, & 22 km events of their choice. The fall colors were at
their best and we had many gorgeous views of the river that winds through the
beautiful city of Edmonton, Alberta. The Paddle Steamer was clearly visible
, its reflection on the river made a very picturesque sight . Walking along
the trails there were a number of interesting buildings to see including a
solar energy house, the famous McDonald Hotel, Canada Place Building, the Power
Plant and off in the distance the colourful dome of the Legislative buildings.
The autumn leaves drifted gently from above creating a walking experience that
just wanted to make you keep walking, and walking we did! The BBQ was fired
up and a delicious lunch of bratwurst sausage on a bun with calorie free
desserts was served. A most memorable day was enjoyed by all who
particpated.

Marathon - 27th July - 2008
What a great morning for walkers from far and wide to descend on St Albert for the annual Trekkers marathon. The past two years provided very high temperatures so with a forecast of in the low 20's the walkers were eager to get walking. Not all 32 participants walked the marathon, many came out for a nice 9, 11, or 22 km walk. There were however 11 brave souls who completed the whole 42 km. Another successful event!

Triathlon - 26th July - 2008
Trekkers host an annual Triathlon in St Albert. Some participants chose to walk, 10, 20, or 30 kms. Others chose to cycle 30 km, and some decided to swim 300m. And a number of people decided to tackle all three! And 3 participants managed to walk 30km, cycle 30 km and swim the 300m! Congratulations to Sonja Van Bostelen, Peter Van Bostelen, and Lou Arsenault.
This year's activities were followed by a 5 star BBQ at the Appelman home north of St Albert .
